For semiconductor applications, silicon single crystals are produced industrially mainly by the Czochralski (CZ) method and the Float Zone (FZ) method. Compared with FZ systems, CZ crystal growth furnaces rely extensively on high-purity graphite components and graphite felt insulation for stable high-temperature operation and process consistency.

Silicon carbide (SiC) single crystals are typically grown by physical vapor transport (PVT) processes at extremely high temperatures, often exceeding 2,400°C. Such demanding conditions require graphite materials with exceptional purity, thermal stability, dimensional consistency, and resistance to harsh process environments.
